Kelvin Davis is hoping his recent performance against Stoke at St Mary's has started to convince the Saints fans he deserves to be their number one.
The keeper was the subject of fierce criticism from sections of the crowd last season after he got off to a rocky start with two mistakes which cost goals against Preston and QPR - both at St Mary's.
In the second half of the season, he started to put in much more consistent displays - but made most of his best saves away from home.
However, against Stoke he made a series of top-drawer stops and the crowd that once gave him stick were singing his name.
Davis said: "It was nice because last season my best performances were away from home.
"And for the Saints fans who were sitting on the fence as to whether I was good enough for them or not, I never really got to show them what I could do.
"To throw that kind of performance in at home, and early on in the season, was great for me personally."
