IT may be two defeats from two visits to Watford for George Burley as Saints boss.
But yesterday he felt his team deserved something from the game.
Burley's first game in charge of the club came at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day 2005 and ended in a 3-0 mauling with Saints hardly able to compete with the eventually promoted Hornets.
This time it was a very different story as Saints came from behind to lead 2-1, only to concede an injury time goal and slip to a 3-2 defeat when a draw probably would have been a fair result.
The defeat gave Burley some food for thought ahead of home games against Colchester, who haven't lost in the league away yet, and Barnsley in the coming days.
But he was encouraged by the way his side played as they went close to what would only have been the club's second ever win at Vicarage Road in 19 attempts.
He said: "It was disappointing to lose right on the final whistle, especially after being in the lead for a long time.
"We came here, competed, gave as good as we got, played some decent stuff. But it's very disappointing not get anything from the game when I felt we deserved something."
