ONLY one game was played in the Wessex League on October 24, 1998 – the appalling weather made sure of that.
Lymington and New Milton climbed two places to within two points of early season pacesetters Wimborne as the twice Wessex League champions put paid to mid-table Eastleigh 3-0 at Ten Acres.
In slippery conditions, Lymington took the advantage in the 14th minute when Phil Stone scored from a quickly taken free kick.
Nigel Mottashed added their second from the penalty spot mid way through the second half after Scott Metcalf was brought down inside the area by Dave Goss.
Three minutes later, Metcalf scored the team’s third goal.
