SOFIANE Boufal believes Saints have ‘nothing to lose’ against Liverpool.
The Moroccan’s equaliser against Spurs last week, ensures Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team go to Anfield with some momentum after winning 2-0 in such style at Crystal Palace last week.
Boufal believes the game against the runaway Premier League leaders is a free hit for Saints, with Liverpool aiming for a 15th successive league win.
“We have nothing to lose against Liverpool,” said Boufal. “It’s a big challenge because they are the best team in the world right now.
“We have nothing to lose and we will see what we can do there.” It will be a very difficult game but will give it our maximum.
“The team is in a very good moment and we have won a lot of games and are full of confidence.
“It’s very important we keep this up.”
Boufal’s 87th-minute equaliser against Spurs was only his third Saints goal and his first for two years.
“It was a great finish and it was a goal that helped the team, so I am really happy,” he continued.
“When you come off the bench you want to help the team and that’s what I did. The ball came very fast, so I wasn’t thinking a lot and decided to shoot.
“It was a very good cross from Danny [Ings] and I was lucky to score this goal. I hope this goal will help me for the future.”
Boufal was reluctant to discuss the toe injury that kept him out for much of the Christmas programme, after stubbing it in his kitchen.
Asked what happened, he added: “Nothing, nothing. I am just focused about the future.”
After the trip to Anfield, where he played in a 3-0 Saints defeat three seasons ago, the focus is on the replay his goal earned at Spurs.
“As a club, we have an objective to go far in the FA Cup, so we need to keep this focus,” he added. “We want to go to Tottenham’s stadium to win this game.”
