TOTTENHAM remain interested in Saints captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.
Hojbjerg's about to enter the final 12 months of his St Mary's deal and is yet to state his desire for that to be extended.
Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has always said that new contracts will only be negotiated when his side have 36 points.
But with football coming to a standstill because of the coronavirus crisis, Saints could have to act before reaching that tally.
The Daily Telegraph claims that Jose Mourinho's Spurs still want to sign the former Bayern Munich man.
However, it adds that they will wait until after the pandemic before making a decision to bid for Hojbjerg.
Everton are also said to be keen on landing the 24-year-old.
Former Spurs striker Darren Bent recently questioned Spurs' reported interest in the Saints skipper.
Bent isn't sure that the Danish international is good enough to take Mourinho's side to the next level.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: "If they get Hojbjerg and maybe lose Ndombele, does he make them that much better?
"Will he be a player other players look at and go, ‘I want to go and play with him?’ I’m not quite sure.
“When you look at Spurs, and I’m not disrespecting Hojbjerg one bit, he’s had a very, very good season, look at where Spurs have come from in the last eight years or whatever, you talk about Mousa Dembele, Scott Parker, Luka Modric, Wanyama – they’ve had so many very good midfielder players.
“All of sudden you think, ‘Hold on a second here, yes Hojbjerg’s a very good player but will he make them better where people go Spurs are really serious?’ I’m not so sure.”
