SAINTS are hoping to negotiate a deal with Club Brugge to bring striker Emmanuel Dennis to St Mary's, according to reports in Belgium.
Brugge are believed to be keen on signing Saints defender Wesley Hoedt, but would prefer a loan rather than pay the £7.3million reported asking price.
However, Saints are said to be keen to let Hoedt leave on a permanent deal with Voetbalkrant reporting they hope to strike a deal to knock some money off the price for Dennis, by offering Hoedt as part of the transfer.
In quotes translated from the Belgian outlet, Saints would like to "haggle several million off the asking price through Hoedt" to snap up 22-year-old Dennis.
The Nigeria international joined Brugge from Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in 2017, scoring 28 goals in 105 appearances, including a brace in the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid in the Champions League last season.
