BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl believes “smart” Ibrahima Diallo could still make an immediate impact for Saints at Sheffield United – should he be fit to feature.
The France under-21 international had been in fine form for the St Mary’s side before being struck down by a muscle problem in January.
Diallo has been back in training this week and could make his return to action against the Blades tomorrow (3pm).
Asked whether it would take the former Brest man a couple of weeks to get back up to his top level, Hasenhuttl said: “Tough to say. It’s normally always necessary to get adapted to the game, but when you keep it simple you can still make an immediate impact.
“When you make it too difficult and make a few mistakes, maybe that can pull you down.
“Normally, he is a smart guy and he knows what he has to do. We will help him to put in a good performance if he plays.”
Diallo has made 11 top-flight appearances for the St Mary’s side this season, having arrived for £12million in October.
