SAINTS and Sheffield United have each been fined £20,000 after admitting a charge of failing to control their players late on in their Premier League clash.

The incident occurred in the final minute of the Hampshire club's vital 2-0 win at Bramall Lane on March 6.

After Blades midfielder John Fleck had fouled Saints striker Che Adams, tempers flared with Sheffield United duo Fleck and Oli McBurnie, as well as Saints star Jannik Vestergaard all cautioned by referee Paul Tierney for their reactions.

A tweet from the FA Spokesperson account read: “Sheffield United FC and Southampton FC have been fined £20,000 for a breach of FA Rule E20 that occurred during their Premier League fixture on Saturday March 6, 2021.

"Both clubs admitted failing to ensure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 90th minute and accepted the standard penalty."
