BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl said Saints now have “a target” for the remainder of their campaign and insisted: “We can still achieve a lot.”

The St Mary’s side on Sunday learned they would face Leicester City in the last four of the FA Cup, in a Wembley semi-final next month.

Brendan Rodgers’s Foxes overcame Manchester United 3-1 to set up the showdown with Saints, who beat Bournemouth 3-0 a day previously to progress to the last four.

Saints are currently 14th in the Premier League table, six points clear of the bottom three with nine league fixtures remaining.

But with his team just two victories away from sealing silverware in the cup, Hasenhuttl insists Saints still have it all to play for.

“We have now a target,” said the Saints boss, speaking before the draw was made.

“A target for the season that we can still achieve a lot.

“We lost a little bit of contact to the good spots in the table because of our not so good second half of the season.

“We had massive injury problems, especially in January, February and March.

“We had a lot of young players to do our job but they are not so far in our development that they can help you immediately.

“It was normal we were struggling a little bit, the Premier League is brutal. They show you immediately the weakness you have.

“In the cup it was a little bit easier. We could concentrate on this one game and in one game we have always a chance to be strong.

“I think we showed this in the past very often and against every side. Now there will be waiting a very good one, I think. Let’s have a look.

“If want to go to the final you have to beat a big one maybe.”

Saints are yet to concede in the competition this season, having overcome the likes of Shrewsbury, Wolves, Arsenal and Cherries on their path to Wembley.

The last time the club reached the final of the competition came in 2003, when they lost 1-0 to Arsenal at Millennium Stadium under Gordon Strachan.
