SAINTS star Moussa Djenepo was unable to prevent Mali from falling to a narrow defeat against Guinea.

Competing in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Conakry, Djenepo started and played the full 90 minutes, earning his 17th cap in the process.

However, Mali fell to a 1-0 loss with FK Partizan midfielder Seydouba Soumah scoring the only goal of the contest late in the second half.

Despite the defeat, Mali have qualified for next year's finals.

They were due to round off their qualifying campaign against Chad on Sunday, but the group's bottom side have been disqualified from the competition by African football's governing body CAF, meaning Djenepo's international duties are over for the month.

Saints could have seven players in international action today.

Takumi Minamino has been named in Japan's starting XI for a friendly against South Korea this morning (10.20am).

Alex Jankewitz is the next man due to feature, with Switzerland under-21s against England in the European Under-21 Championship (2pm).

World Cup qualifiers then take centre stage this evening.

Jannik Vestergaard could feature for Denmark in Israel (5pm), before James Ward-Prowse and England host San Marino (7.45pm).

Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong will both be hoping to play a part for Scotland in their game against Austria (7.45pm), while Jan Bednarek and Poland face Hungary away (7.45pm).
