SAINTS striker Che Adams played a key role in helping Scotland battle back to take a point against Israel on his first international start.

Adams, who came off the bench to make his debut during last week's draw with Austria, led the line for Steve Clarke's men in Tel Aviv.

The hosts had taken a deserved lead a minute before the break when David Marshall palmed Dor Peretz’s long-range strike into the net.

But Scotland quickly hit back as Adams teed up Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser 11 minutes into the second half to earn the visitors a 1-1 draw in front of around 5,000 fans at the Bloomfield Stadium.

Adams was replaced by QPR striker Lyndon Dykes 20 minutes after the equaliser.

Fellow Saints star Stuart Armstrong was introduced off the bench with four minutes to play.

Scotland sit third in Group F of 2022 World Cup qualifying with two points from their two matches.

They host Faroe Islands on Wednesday.

Denmark sit top of the group after thrashing Moldova 8-0 in Copenhagen.

Saints defender Jannik Vestergaard played the full 90 minutes for Kasper Hjulmand's men, who head to Austria on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, James Ward-Prowse came off the bench for the final 19 minutes to help England to a 2-0 win in Albania.

Jan Bednarek was an unused substitute for Poland's comfortable 3-0 success against Andorra.

Alex Jankewitz was in action, coming on midway through the second half for Switzerland at the European Under-21 Championship.

The Swiss were trailing 3-0 to Croatia when the midfielder was introduced and eventually lost 3-2.

Will Ferry also got some minutes under his belt, starting for Republic of Ireland under-21s in their 2-1 friendly win over Wales.
