SAINTS winger Mohamed Elyounoussi was the architect for Norway to overcome Montenegro 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old, on loan at Scottish giants Celtic, drove into the box before cutting the ball back for striker Alexander Sorloth to convert.

Speaking to TV2 following the contest, Sorloth said: “It’s fantastic from Moi.

“You just have to take your hat off for what he does there!”

Elyounoussi impressed during the contest in Podgorica before being substituted in place of Stefan Strandberg in the latter stages.

The winger joined Saints from Basel in June 2018 for a reported £16million, signing a five-year deal at St Mary’s.

He has played 19 games in total for Saints, eight of those appearances coming under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Asked about going back to his parent club at a press conference while on Celtic duty earlier this month, the winger said: “I haven’t thought much about it yet. We still have games left, the season is not finished.

“I will think about that when everything is done. My main focus is still here now and to do my best for the club.

“I’m coming in every day to do my best in training, become a better player and do my best on the pitch when I get the chance to.

“So, thoughts about my future haven’t changed, I haven’t even thought about it. Like I said, my main focus is still here, now, every day in training. The time will come to think about the future and the next step.”

Elsewhere, Shane Long played 57 minutes for the Republic of Ireland during their 1-1 draw in a friendly against Qatar.

The striker, on loan at AFC Bournemouth, has now reached 88 caps for his country.

James McClean’s first international goal for three-and-a-half years handed Ireland the lead in the fourth minute.

But Mohamed Muntari levelled two minutes after the restart as Ireland boss Stephen Kenny’s wait for a first win extended to 11 games.
