SAINTS’ move for Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams is reportedly becoming increasingly unlikely.
The Sun have reported United are looking for more than £2million regarding a loan fee for the 20-year-old.
It is reported that Saints see that sum as too high for the England under-21 international.
The Athletic claim boss Ralph Hasenhuttl still wants Williams to join his troops and Saints are working on getting the fee down for the United academy graduate.
Williams saw his game time at Old Trafford limited last season, making just four Premier League appearances.
One of those came at St Mary’s where he came off the bench for the final six minutes of a 3-2 win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Saints have already signed French left-back Romain Perraud to bolster their defensive options this campaign, while Kyle Walker-Peters remains an integral part of the squad at right-back.
