AHEAD of Saints’ upcoming pre-season fixtures in Wales, Swansea have also confirmed that the Liberty Stadium will be home supporters only.
Adding to Cardiff’s prior announcement earlier in the week, this means no Saints fans will be permitted for either leg of the mini-tour at the end of July.
All four stands will be open but the Swans have confirmed that only 8,200 home supporters will be in attendance for the fixture, on Saturday July 31, with tickets now on sale for season ticket holders.
Like the Cardiff announcement, this is in line with Welsh government policy and the local safety advisory group as the country eases Covid restrictions gradually.
On the club website, Saints published the following statement: “Southampton Football Club can confirm that away fans will not be able to buy tickets for the upcoming friendlies against Cardiff City and Swansea City on the advice of the local safety advisory group.
“Saints travel to Wales as part of their pre-season preparations, facing Cardiff on Tuesday 27th July, (7pm BST) and Swansea on Saturday 31st July (3pm BST).
“Fans can get live updates from both fixtures across the club’s digital channels.”
