Brtish athletes had a day to rememebr in Tokyo on Magic Monday on a day that will rival Super Saturday at London 2012.
Adam Peaty was Britain’s banker and he did not disappoint, romping to victory in the 100 metres breaststroke to become the first British swimmer to retain an Olympic title.
Peaty’s success turned into a gold rush in the afternoon when divers Tom Daley and Matty Lee claimed a stunning victory in the 10m synchronised platform event before 21-year-old Tom Pidcock dominated the men’s mountain bike race.
Top athletes from around the world have decended on Japan and will compete for glory, hoping for a chance to land a medal.
The 2020 Games are the fourth to be held in Japan, following Tokyo 1964 (Summer), Sapporo 1972 (Winter), and Nagano 1998 (Winter).
This year's Games also sees a number of new sports introduced including freestyle BMX, 3x3 basketball and skateboarding.

Saturday saw the men's four rowing squad book a spot in the A-final after winning their heat, the team includes Oxford's own Sholto Carnegie.
Team GB has high hopes for these Games after finishing second overall at Rio 2016 with 27 gold, 23 silver and 17 bronze.
This year's Games will see Team GB have - for the first time - more women competing than men.
201 women (53.5%) and 175 men (46.5%) are hoping to bring home the gold in Tokyo.
The Games will also see Team GB's youngest ever summer Olympian compete.
13-year-old Sky Brown is a medal prospect who will make her debut in skateboarding, a new sport for this year.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will take place between July 23 and August 8 2021.
