SAINTS fans have not held back in airing their views after Danny Ings’s shock departure to Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old’s future was tonight decided after the England striker was confirmed as having signed a three-year deal with the Midlands outfit.
Ings’s departure from St Mary’s brings to an end a 100-game stay on the south coast for the striker, who signed permanently for Saints from Liverpool in 2019 after a fruitful loan spell.

Here are some reactions to the news.
Appreciate there is still time left but this summer has been really poor for #SaintsFC. Losing Bertrand and Ings is huge. We needed to strengthen and as things stand we come out a lot weaker.

Another season of hoping there are 3 worse teams.
What a day for #saintsfc fans:

Wow big #SaintsFC news today ! First up @FrannyBenali picked up MBE ! Next up fans back at St Marys ! Finally Ings left. Son gutted. But invest the money wisely & it’s better than him leaving for nowt. Need goals this season !

Amazing how quick Danny Ings has gone from “king of the scummers” to “injury prone striker” by some of our fanbase!

Ings was on last year of contract, could have left for nothing at end of season. We get £30m to reinvest, it’s a no brainer for #SaintsFC I have no doubt replacement is lined up & it gives Adams & Tella greater opportunities this season. Gutted, but no player is bigger than club

Danny Ings’ contract ends next year, he didn’t want an extension, so rather than getting nothing for him next year, 30m now is great business I think. Thank you Ingsy for your valued service…Now Nathan Tella, time to show your mettle!! #SaintsFC

Always going to be tough to replace Ings with his proven prem quality. Certainly don't think a player coming up from the championship will do that straight away. Need a proven prem goal scorer to fill the boots. #SaintsFC

As gutted as I am to see Ings leave, we have to take the positives. £30m for a 29 year old who only had 1 year left on his contract is a great bit of business, regardless of how baffling the decision around the club he has gone to is. No excuses in re-investing now #SaintsFC

There's no way Danny Ings was ever a #saintsfc fan,no fan would leave us for a sideways step at Villa!
