SAINTS have been drawn to play League Two Newport County at Rodney Parade in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
The tip to Wales will come at the end of this month, with ties due to be played week commencing Monday August 23 for a place in the final 32 teams.
This draw was still divided into the North and South section, with the third round of the competition becoming nationalised.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were defeated 2-0 at home to Championship outfit Brentford in the same round of the 2020-21 season, and will hope to fare better this time around.
Saints reached the final of the EFL Cup in February 2017, when Manolo Gabiaddini’s brilliant brace wasn’t enough to set aside a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-inspired Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.
