JANNIK Vestergaard has completed his £15million move to Leicester City.

The centre-back departs Saints after three years, having scored four goals in 79 appearances.

The two clubs agreed a fee earlier this week, with the deal finalised today as Vestergaard put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at King Power Stadium.

His move was completed in time to be allowed to feature for Leicester in their Premier League opener against Wolves tomorrow.

Denmark international Vestergaard began last season out of Saints' side, before quickly establishing himself as a key cog in the back-line.

The 29-year-old's final season at Saints was his best for the club, but after entering the last year of his contract, the Hampshire club opted to cash in.

Vestergaard took to Instagram earlier today to post a farewell message, describing his time at Saints as a "pleasure and an honour" adding how his three years since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach had been "a ride of ups and downs".

The centre-back becomes the second player to leave Saints for Leicester this summer, following in the footsteps of Ryan Bertrand, who joined the Foxes as a free agent after his deal expired.

Discussing Vestergaard's imminent departure earlier this week, and whether the club will look to replace him in the transfer market, boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said: "It definitely would not be a disadvantage if the player that we sign can also play as a six, as a third alternative for us in this position.

"We do have a list. We will do something, that is clear. What we will do, that is the question."

Saints currently have three senior first-team centre-backs at the club in Jack Stephens, Mohammed Salisu and Jan Bednarek, while they also recruited Dynel Simeu and Olly Lancashire into the B team this summer.
