SAINTS Women earned a winning start to their National League 2021-22 campaign with a 3-1 home victory over MK Dons, as starlet Lucia Kendall bagged twice.
The England under-19 player scored twice while substitute Ella Pusey added a second-half notch to secure the victory.
MK Dons’ solitary goal came courtesy of a Mollie Coupar penalty on 72 minutes, after Jade Bell was brought down by Ella Morris in the box.
Debuts were handed to the likes of exciting new signings Laura Rafferty, Ciara Watling and Leeta Rutherford, while Shannon Sievwright captained Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side.
It was Saints’ first game in the National League Southern Premier after being awarded promotion following last season’s curtailment.
With all three points secured attention will now turn on next Sunday, with their second league game seeing them travel away to Plymouth Argyle.
