SAINTS B team slipped to a 3-0 home drubbing at the hands of Norwich in their Premier League Division Two 2021-22 season opener.
New signing Dynel Simeu featured at the heart of defence alongside experienced head Olly Lancashire, who was brought into the squad this summer to guide and lead the team.
Olympian Caleb Watts also started while Oludare Olufunwa captained David Horseman’s outfit.
Operating with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s 4-2-2-2 tactics, as is done all the way through the academy, Norwich proved to be too good for the home side with Abu Kamara netting a hat-trick.
The young Canaries finished 11th in this division last season, but ensured it was a weekend to forget for Saints’ men – the Women’s side won 3-1 in their first National League Southern Premier fixture.
Horseman’s side will look to bounce back on Monday August 23, with a trip to Nottingham Forest.
