SOUTHERN Brave secured an eliminator spot as they hunted down a 135 total set by Oval Invincibles in a winner-takes-all clash, with Jake Lintott insisting: “It is another example of the character in the team.”
The Brave lost key men Quinton de Kock, James Vince and Paul Stirling cheaply but were able to stage a grand-slam finish and book an all-important eliminator for Friday August 20.
An unbeaten stand of 67 between Colin de Grandhomme and Alex Davies helped wrap up the victory at the Ageas Bowl.
Somerset-born left-arm wristspinner Lintott delivered a masterclass with the ball in hand, ending up with figures of 3/14 off his 20 deliveries.
Speaking after the vital match, the relieved Lintott said: "It was a really good win, I thought we showed a lot of fight.
“Davo (Alex Davies) has done so well to get us over the line there and there have been some good contributions from Colin (de Grandhomme) and personally it was great to contribute to a win as well.
"I think after 15 balls they were on 40 so we were really under the pump there and it would have been easy for heads to drop.
"But it is another example of the character in the team and what a tight-knit group we are."
The Brave now face Trent Rockets at The Oval in London to join the Women’s side and continue their run into the final of the competition.
