PERHAPS the unlikeliest of internet sensations at Saints, a groundsman who works on the hallowed turf at St Mary’s is the latest to become a viral star through social media app TikTok.

Dubbed grass_man5, the Saints groundsman uploads short clips of him working in and around the Saints grounds – fixing up the turf to Premier League condition and showing off stunning behind-the-scenes views to music.

‘More than just cutting grass’, he has amassed a following of nearly 12,000 people and a total of nearly 200,000 ‘likes’.

The account holder also responds to general groundskeeping questions, so it actually looks like quite a good place to learn the craft.

After getting involved with some club media obligations, Saints starlet Nathan Tella also created an account on the app and commented on his video challenge posted on the club’s official page.

He hasn’t posted any content of his own, but has gained almost 1,000 followers just from the comment.

However, speaking to the Daily Echo he admitted it was “a mistake.”

Jokingly, he said: “No I want to just so focus on football, it was a mistake commenting on the Tiktok video.

“I just want to play football.”
