RALPH Hasenhuttl has insisted there’s “not a lot I can say about this game” when quizzed about the 9-0 defeat to Manchester United that occurred back in February.

That was the last encounter between Saints and the Red Devils, which saw a capitulation after youngster Alex Jankewitz was shown a red card just minutes into the game.

Jan Bednarek was then sent off three minutes from time, too, with United making it a – another – day to forget for Saints.

But Hasenhuttl has moved to deny that it’s even worth speaking about, given that they were a man down so early on.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, he said: “I don’t know anymore. It’s so long ago.

“It was a special situation after one man down after two minutes and then another man after 60 or 70 minutes. There is not a lot I can say about this game.

“It’s not worth speaking about it.”

He added: “Afterwards we knew it was not a red card and was not a penalty but what should I care about this game anymore? It’s stupid to speak about that.”

In the end, there were seven different scorers for the home side – and an own goal by Bednarek – as they romped to a memorable Old Trafford victory.

Unfortunately for Saints, as had been the previous Leicester hammering by the same scoreline, a game couldn’t pass in broadcast without it being mentioned.

This isn’t the case within the squad though, as Hasenhuttl confirms there’s been no need for it to be brought up again.

He insisted: “Definitely not. Since then we’ve had a lot of games and never was there a topic where we should have discussed this game.

“We had down numbers after two minutes and with lots of academy players on the pitch, it was not really worth speaking about.”
