SAINTS Women breezed to make it comfortable back-to-back victories in the National League Southern Premier, with a 3-0 win away to Plymouth Argyle on Sunday.
Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side have made a dream start to life in the new division after defeating MK Dons 3-1 on the opening day.
The two fixtures played out in oddly similar fashion too, with Leeta Rutherford scoring a first-half brace after 32 and 39 minutes, before Ciara Watling added the third late in the second period.
Against the Dons, Lucia Kendall had netted two by half-time, also with seven minutes between each goal after striking first on the half-hour mark – while Ella Pusey added the third later in the second-half.
Space-Cale’s outfit kept a first clean sheet this time around though, with a performance that was capped off by a low, composed finish from Northern Ireland international Rafferty just 13 minutes from time.
That came after Rutherford had headed home two Shannon Sievwright corners, with the skipper’s crosses being too hot for the Pilgrims to handle.
Their next fixture sees them travel to Chichester & Selsey tonight, with the ambition of making it a successful opening treble for the newly promoted side in the division.
