LOOKING to get Cristiano Ronaldo into your Fantasy Premier League team? Saints players could save you a fortune whilst still scoring you points – allowing you to get the Portuguese maverick into your side.
The Manchester United man will set you back £12.5million in-game currency – that’s 12.5% of your whole budget – but you’d like to think he guarantees goals. There’s no doubt that he will usurp Bruno Fernandes on United’s spot-kicks.
But how can Saints help you get CR7 in? We’ve picked out three names that are good-to-exceptional value.
Tino Livramento
This first one is a no-brainer. The 18-year-old right-back goes down as a defender in game and only costs £4.1m at the time of writing. That’s almost the cheapest available price in the game.
He has started all three Premier League matches so far in right-back, somehow knocking Kyle Walker-Peters out of the side, and has shown he has explosive dynamism already.
The ex-Chelsea man won’t necessarily start every game though, in my opinion, I think it’s likely Walker-Peters will be reintroduced from right-back on occasion.
But he is so good going forward that bonus points and assists are highly likely, and I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that if he continues on his current trajectory he may even end up in right-wing before the season is out.
If he does, he will be the bargain of the FPL season and will free up loads of cash for you to spend on Ronaldo.
James Ward-Prowse
At £6.5m, the midfielder is a bit more of an expensive option but still represents good value for money.
He’s the primary set-piece taker so can get assists from corners, and will score goals from free-kicks and penalties – as proven against Newcastle.
To add, the Saints skipper plays every single minute of the season so will always be in the running for minutes and bonus points.
The eight-time England international scored eight and assisted eight during the 2020-21 Premier League campaign.
Adam Armstrong
Most strikers cost a lot more than the £6.0m that the ex-Blackburn and Newcastle forward will set you back, and he’s done well so far.
After scoring on his debut, he then nearly had an assist in matchday 2 but for a Fred deflection that was eventually given as an own goal on Che Adams’ strike.
The 24-year-old then won a penalty against the Toon, which was converted by James Ward-Prowse to gift him another assist.
He’s the main man for Saints going forward and is likely to start every game this season, ensuring he is always in the running for some points.
Armstrong could be a cheap option to partner alongside the mega-money acquisition.
