RALPH Hasenhuttl was left thrilled with his side's performance to take a point against champions Manchester City, exclaiming: "I am very proud of what my team did today."
City had scored 16 goals in their past three games at Etihad Stadium, with two 5-0 wins and a 6-3 success.
However, they were restricted to just one shot on target all afternoon against Saints, which came via Phil Foden in the 90th minute, as the visitors took a well-earned share of the spoils with a 0-0 draw.
Discussing his side's performance, boss Hasenhuttl said: "When you play like we have played second half especially and you hear the crowd is starting to boo, then you know that you do something right. I must say that we had a perfect week.
"We had time to prepare. We worked on two different shapes this week. Tactically you must have a super performance, otherwise you have no chance here.
"Everything was working fantastic and you know how difficult it is here. Finally, I must say I am very proud of what my team did today.
"For us as a club, as a team, to come here and take a point is fantastic.
He added: "In the end we deserved to get something today."
