SAINTS B complete their turnaround of form to win four successive Premier League 2 matches with a total 5-0 domination of Newcastle United at Staplewood Campus.
Kazeem Olaigbe struck twice in the first half to set the young Saints on their way, before Dynel Simeu scored his first for the club and Thierry Small and Lewis Payne added more.
The result means a fourth consecutive victory in the league having not won a single game since February before this run, as coach David Horseman can breathe a sigh of relief.
Newcastle came into the game as sixth in the division while Saints had managed to lift themselves in recent weeks, but only as high as 11th.
First-teamers Will Smallbone and Yan Valery – who operated as a centre-back again following his trial run at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge – featured, while there was no Nathan Tella this time around.
Olaigbe’s opener came from a Smallbone cut-back inside the first 20 minutes, before he was assisted by 16-year-old Kamari Doyle to double the advantage before half-time.
Ramello Mitchell was denied a third after he too was fed by the Republic of Ireland under-21 international, but the linesman’s flag ruled out his accurate finish into the bottom corner.
Doyle’s corner then swung to the back-post, with Newcastle keeper Dan Langley missing his attempt to claim, and fell to the feet of former Chelsea academy man Simeu to put away for his first in Saints colours since arriving in the summer.
Olaigbe turned the provider for Saints’ fourth as left-back Small, who also scored in the recent victory over Aston Villa, made it two in two for him.
And Payne followed suit after his brace against Villa, adding the final notch with a swift counter-attack following good goalkeeping from Saints stopper Jack Bycroft.
Next up for Saints B is the final Papa John’s Trophy outing of the season, visiting Crawley Town on Tuesday, November 9.
