ARMANDO Broja has returned to Saints from international duty for treatment on his ankle injury.

The Albanian frontman missed their 5-0 defeat to England on Friday due to a sore ankle, which had also kept him out of Saints action prior to a substitute appearance against Aston Villa last week.

Broja will now also be absent from Monday’s final World Cup qualifier at home against Andorra, with Albania five points behind second-placed Poland and unable to progress any further.

The 20-year-old has returned to Staplewood Campus for further treatment, ahead of Saints’ Premier League clash with Norwich on Saturday, November 20.

Broja had scored in each of his last two starts for Saints during the 1-0 victory over Leeds United and 2-2 draw with Burnley, but managed to injury himself in the process of both strikes.

He was seen limping off at St Mary’s before heading down the tunnel with an ice pack at full-time. The injury kept him out of Saints’ win at Watford the next week, before he made a late return in the 1-0 win over Villa.

Broja had scored crucial goals for Albania during the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifying, including two winners in 1-0 victories over Hungary both home and away.
