RALPH Hasenhuttl described being paired with Coventry City in the fourth round of the FA Cup as a "good game" for his Saints side.

Goals from Nathan Redmond, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Shane Long secured Saints' spot in the last 32, with a 3-2 extra-time victory at Swansea City on Saturday.

The reward saw Saints handed a home draw against another Championship side in the next round, with Mark Robins's Coventry set to head to St Mary's on the opening weekend on February.

The Sky Blues, who sit 10th in the second tier, made it through to round four by edging out Derby County 1-0 on Saturday with a goal from Dominic Hyam.

Discussing the draw, Hasenhuttl said: "It is a good draw and a good game.

"It’s important that we stayed in this competition and have another chance to give other players a chance to play and this is a good game for us, yes."

He added: "I am happy that we are still in the cup. This was important, that we stay in this competition after this hard fight on Saturday, because that gives me new opportunities for other players to also get game time.

"That helps massively to get a good atmosphere in the building and to get the message to everybody that he is absolutely needed here."

Saints, the 1976 FA Cup winners, reached the semi-finals of the competition last season, before losing to Leicester City at Wembley.
