SAINTS youngster Caleb Watts has joined League Two Crawley Town on loan for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who turns 20 on Sunday, will be getting extended senior experience with a first loan spell of his career, linking up with fellow Saints loanee Will Ferry.
Australian youth international Watts has been in good form for Dave Horseman’s B team this campaign, with one goal and six assists in 12 appearances.
Crawley are currently 12th in League Two and are just four points off the playoffs with games in hand on many of the teams above.
On signing for the Reds, Watts told the club website: “I’m buzzing to be here.
“I have been looking to get out and get some proper experience in men’s football, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for me.”
Watts could make his EFL debut when they travel to Carlisle United on Saturday, 15 January.
The youngster has already made his senior Saints bow, including a Premier League debut versus Arsenal in January 2021.
Crawley manager, John Yems, added: “It’s really good to have Caleb on board with us for the remainder of the season. He offers us another good alternative in the midfield area.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Southampton for all of their help, and I wish him all the best in a Crawley shirt.”
