SAINTS must make a decision on the contract of B team and youth international star Kazeem Olaigbe, with the youngster’s red-hot form continuing at pace.
Belgian 19-year-old prodigy and winger Olaigbe netted the winner versus Premier League 2 Division 2 leaders Fulham in the 87th minute last night, during a 2-1 victory.
The strike was his sixth in his last six league matches for Dave Horseman’s B team, a run which also stretches back to a 4-0 win over League Two Crawley Town in the EFL Trophy.
In that, Olaigbe also scored twice and provided an assist to help seal their first win over EFL opposition for the campaign.
However, Olaigbe – who made his Belgium under-19s debut back in October – could be set to leave Saints with his contract, like many B team assets, set to expire this summer.
“Kaz is our top goalscorer so when he gets in we’re really confident he is going to score,” Horseman said to the club website, after the Fulham win.
“I think he scored one like that against West Brom at home.”
He continued: “He has that technique, so we have just to get him in the right positions and he has to do those behaviours regularly, and when he does…
“What’s that? 11 goals this season, of all types, he could be a really talented boy.”

Something for Semmens & co. to do
He is also joined by highly-rated product and captain Kegs Chauke, but it has been reported elsewhere that the South African has a deal on the table that he has been offered by Saints.
With Olaigbe continuing to improve and show that he is the star going forward for the under-23 side, Saints will be keen to secure his future at the club on an extended basis.
Olaigbe, who could also be eligible for Nigeria, was signed by Saints’ academy from Belgian first division outfit Anderlecht in 2019.
The attacker played one-and-a-half seasons for Saints’ under-18s before being promoted to the B team, where his goalscoring form only improved.
Olaigbe has nine goals in 16 league matches for Saints B this campaign.
