RALPH Hasenhuttl has given a positive update after fears of a serious Armando Broja knee injury, revealing that the striker is yet to train since but that he will be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s fixture with Tottenham.
The on-loan Saints striker was seen hobbling off with the help of the physio at full-time following the FA Cup extra-time win over Coventry City.
Hasenhuttl said at the time that he hoped the Albanian had taken an impact injury rather than any muscle damage, with a nasty graze visible on the 20-year-olds knee-cap.
He is yet to return to training with the Saints squad but will be assessed ahead of the visit to Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the Premier League.
While immediate involvement sounds unlikely, it is possible that he could feature if passed fit by Saints staff.
Hasenhuttl said: “He has not trained yesterday or on Sunday but we will have a look at how he is today, it is possible that he is available for tomorrow but we don’t know yet.
“We will give him the time to recover but let’s have a look how he is. For him, it is better than for Lyanco.”
Brazilian defender Lyanco, who last week celebrated his 25th birthday, had to be substituted in the first-half of that FA Cup fourth round clash on Saturday.
It was initially thought to be a hamstring injury and it was known straight away that it was a serious concern, likely to sideline him for some weeks to come.
The Austrian has confirmed that this is the case and he could miss up to 12 weeks, and that it is the same hamstring tendon injury defender Jack Stephens was out with.
“Lyanco is definitely out for 8, 10, 12 weeks, hopefully not too long,” he added.
“It is the same injury like Jack Stephens had a few weeks ago, so it is a little bit more serious.
“It is a pity for him because he was in very good shape and enjoyed learning, getting better and better every week so it is a little bit of a setback, but he will come back stronger and he is keeping his head up.”
Stephens was sidelined in September and did not reappear until the Arsenal match, in mid-December
Nathan Tella was also absent from the weekend while he continues to nurse a groin injury.
Hasenhuttl continued: “Nathan needs a little bit more time I think, hopefully next week he will come back and train with the team.”
