SAINTS star Oriol Romeu surprised supporters of AFC Totton with a Snows Stadium appearance and joked “we will see” when asked to end his career with the Stags.

The experienced Spanish midfielder watched on from the stands as the Hampshire side defeated promotion rivals Cirencester 1-0 in the Southern League Division One.

Romeu, who has made 27 Premier League appearances this season, was taken to the match by a visiting Spanish lecturer of Solent University’s Sports Journalism course, Jordi.

Former Barcelona and Chelsea man, Romeu, revealed that he enjoyed the different style of battle non-league football presents.

“(It was) great, we saw a great game, 1-0 win in second versus third,” Romeu told the club social media.

“It couldn’t be any better, I enjoyed it. I will probably be playing so I’m not sure if I will be able to come more often but I had a friend who was coming today and I really enjoyed it.

“Some good players, physically very strong, I saw a good physical game there. Different style of football but also very nice to watch."

The 30-year-old was asked if he would wind down his career at Snows when the time comes, and responded: “We’ll see, I think I need to be very fit to be able to play in these type of matches!

“It’s not easy at all so we will see when we get there. Let me enjoy playing football for Southampton and then we will see what happens afterwards.”
