As Lyanco danced on the St Mary’s pitch in front of a crowd that seemed to be enjoying the beautiful sunshine nearly as much as the beautiful three points, nobody wanted to go home. This is what it’s all about.

Less than a week later Saints fans packed out the away section of Turf Moor to see their side meekly surrender to lose 2-0. A little over a fortnight later they were in West London in huge numbers to watch Saints get battered 3-0 by Brentford.
As painful as those were, this is really what it’s all about. Sticking by your fellow fans through good - and through a lot of bad.
As Southampton fans outsung the much larger contingent of Brentford supporters, they showed exactly what it’s all about. The community, the passion, the care.
Saintsplus has now been around for six weeks and hopefully it’s evident that our coverage is trying to meet you at that incredible passion level.

There’s still a lot more in the planning but thus far we have interviewed Saints legends including Rickie Lambert, Terry Paine and Franny Benali and spoken with a dozen of the players and coaches at the centre of the glorious 2011/12 promotion campaign.
We’ve looked deeper into the roots of experienced stars including James Ward-Prowse and promising youngsters like Nico Lawrence.
We’ve done what we can to provide detailed tactical analysis while never being afraid to share an opinion.
It certainly hasn’t been the end to the season that anyone would have wanted but form or results will never stop us from doing absolutely everything to cover this great club in the most creative and interesting ways possible.
But don’t just take my word for it. Try a free one-month trial of Saintsplus and make your own mind up.
