GOALKEEPER Fraser Forster may have played his last game for Saints, with manager Ralph Hasenhuttl confirming he has not returned to training ahead of the final day.

The 34-year-old was sidelined for the eventual 2-1 defeat to Liverpool with a combination of back and joint issues, and has not recovered by the end of the week.

Forster’s Saints deal is due to expire next month, and could be set for the exit door with Alex McCarthy having signed new terms to stay within the last year.

It would mean Forster’s last of 161 appearances for the club came in the 3-0 defeat at Brentford nearly two weeks ago.

“So far only Fraser is still out, Tino (Livramento) and (Romain) Perraud of course but the other guys are still available,” Hasenhuttl confirmed, speaking ahead of Sunday's trip to Leicester City.

England international Forster, who joined Saints from Scottish giants Celtic in 2014, played a vital role in the decisive 1-0 win over Arsenal at St Mary’s this season.

Without that performance amongst others, Saints would be facing a relegation scrap on the final day of the season. He could yet sign renewed terms.
