SAINTS goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set to complete a free transfer to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

The 34-year-old is out of contract with Saints at the end of June, and will link up with Antonio Conte’s Spurs on July 1.

Six-foot six-inch tall Forster has signed a two-year deal with the north London outfit. He becomes their second summer signing, after Croatian international Ivan Perisic.

Following an injury to Alex McCarthy in December, Forster was given an extended run in Saints’ side this season and produced a string of fine displays.

However, he has not been rewarded with a new contract at Saints and has played his final game for the club.

Forster made 162 appearances for Saints since joining in 2014, spending time away on loan at Scottish giants Celtic during that spell.

The Daily Echo understands he was not informed that McCarthy, 32, was given a new contract until it was made public via the FA intermediary report.

A statement from Saints said: "The club would like to thank Fraser for his considerable efforts and achievements during his time with Southampton and wish him well for the future."
