SAINTS target Romeo Lavia has penned a farewell message to Manchester City as his move to the south coast nears completion.

The highly-rated 18-year-old, who is on the verge of a multi-million pound switch to Saints, joined City from Belgian giants Anderlecht in the summer of 2020.

According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, the deal would comprise of an upfront fee of £10.5m, potentially rising to £14m.

City will also apparently hold a 20 per cent sell-on clause, alongside the ability to match other club's accepted bids in the future, with a outright buy-back clause also heavily reported.

Having made his debut as a 17-year-old in the League Cup, Lavia played just one further game for City, although he was involved in matchday squads for Champions League fixtures.

Despite his tender age, Lavia become a key part of Saints’ Premier League 2 team, frequently rubbing shoulders with players five years his senior.

In a statement on his Instagram, the Brussels-born midfielder shared: “My Manchester City journey has come to an end.

“I’d like to thank everyone associated with this great club for all you’ve done for me during these two years at the club.

“I’ve developed into an even better player, person and it was also an honour to make my debut for this massive club.

“I wish the club nothing but the best for the future.”

The Daily Echo yesterday published they expected Lavia to finalise his move within 24 hours.
