SAINTS have been drawn to face bitter rivals Portsmouth away in Round 2 of the Hampshire Saturday Senior Cup.
It is likely to be Dave Horseman’s B team that will travel to Pompey week-commencing September 12, with preliminary and Round 1 ties still to be played beforehand.
Although the majority of Round 2 ties are yet to be confirmed, and will be decided by results in the prior two rounds, Saints have learned their exact opponents already.
Also competing in the competition are fellow Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth, despite hailing from Dorset, and local non-league clubs Eastleigh and AFC Totton.
Saints B reached the semi-final of the Hampshire Senior Cup during the 2019-20 season, eventually suffering defeat on penalties to the Spitfires at the Silverlake Stadium.
The final of the Hampshire Senior Cup was hosted at St Mary’s between 2016-18, while AFC Totton and Eastleigh have shared responsibilities since.
The Saints first-team have only faced Portsmouth once in the last 10 years, battering them 4-0 at Fratton Park in 2019.
