BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed forward Nathan Tella would be “out for a few weeks” after picking up a knee injury during pre-season.
The former Arsenal academy youngster featured in both of the club’s pre-season contests against RB Leipzig and Klagenfurt, during the St Mary’s side’s tour of Austria.
But with Tella not featuring against Watford on Saturday, or in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over Monaco, Hasenhuttl revealed he was likely to miss the start of the season.
Giving an update on Tella to the Daily Echo, the Austrian boss said: “He had a knee injury, not too bad but he is out for a few weeks so we will have a look.”
The manager also gave an update on experienced forward Theo Walcott, who did not travel to Austria due to injury.
“He is still injured. He didn’t train so far. He has problems, so it still takes time,” added the Saints boss.
Saints finish their pre-season campaign with a home contest against Villarreal on Saturday.
