SAINTS were reportedly interested in another move for PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare this summer, but the Ivorian opted to a sign a new contract.
The 24-year-old former Toulouse ace has penned a new deal to remain in the Netherlands until 2027, following a summer of speculation.
Sangare had been mooted as a target for the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle United before signing off on new terms with the Dutch outfit.
The 24-cap Ivory Coast international arrived at his current club in 2020, where he spoke openly about rejecting a potential transfer move to Saints at the time.

“Things were a little slow at Southampton," said Sangare, speaking to Voetbal International.
"I was very interested in PSV. This is a very interesting choice in terms of club. I’ve seen PSV matches and I’m impressed with the way they play," he explained.
“When such an opportunity presents itself, you should seize it. This is just the beginning for me.”
Sangare moved to PSV for a measly fee of under £9million, and has gone on to play an instrumental role in a Dutch Cup and two Dutch Super Cup wins.
His agent, speaking on ESPN today, claimed that Saints and Premier League rivals Everton were interested in a move for Sangare this summer – but he decided to pen a new deal.

Back in May, Sangare himself had claimed it was a “dream” for all players to play in the Premier League.
“Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. That is the biggest and most important league in the world,” he said.
Saints have since added two reinforcements in the midfield area, with both Romeo Lavia and Joe Aribo making their Premier League debuts at Spurs.
Ralph Hasenhuttl now has the required depth in his midfield, even deciding to let Will Smallbone go on loan to Championship outfit Stoke City.
Any further additions are likely to come in aid of bolstering his defensive and forward lines, with a new striker needed at the minimum.
