RALPH Hasenhuttl praised his forwards but admitted “I’m confident” when asked if Saints can get another striker in ahead of deadline day.
The summer transfer window shuts on Thursday, September 1, with Saints having made six additions already.
Five of those are set to feature prominently for the first-team, with Gavin Bazunu, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Romeo Lavia and Joe Aribo already starters.
However, the boss has been open about his desire for one or two more incomings – including another striker and full-back cover.
Hasenhuttl also would like to reduce his squad, if the likes of Jan Bednarek, Jack Stephens, Nathan Redmond and Theo Walcott can be found the right moves.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Austrian said he expected both ins and outs ahead of the final few days of the summer.
And asked again, speaking to beIN Sports after the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, if Saints will get a new striker, he said: “I’m confident. We know what we are looking at.”
During the loss to Erik ten Hag’s side, Saints managed no fewer than 17 shots with five of those testing David De Gea in goal.
“We have to look at a very good team performance today, the only thing that was missing was the final goal and this was a little bit disappointing today,” Hasenhuttl added.
“But the rest was good. We created a lot of chances today and this was absolutely good work from the guys up front.
“Che (Adams) did a good job and Arma (Adam Armstrong) was good. We tried really hard but no final goal today.”
Asked if Hasenhuttl has a timeframe for a new striker coming in, he admitted: “Not yet.”
