ASTON Villa have been dealt an injury blow with defender Matty Cash expected to miss the clash with Saints on Friday.
Should the Premier League fixtures go ahead, like the FA have already confirmed for all of their affiliated fixtures, Saints will play at Villa Park in front of the television cameras (8PM).
The hosts started the beginning of a collapse for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints last season, with a 4-0 win in the Midlands the first of five without victory.
One of those players integral to that hammering, Cash, could be set to miss the meeting this time around. The 25-year-old assisted for former Saint Danny Ings to add the fourth.
Cash has been left out of Poland’s upcoming Nations League games against The Netherlands (September 22) and Wales (September 25) later this month.
The right-back is still nursing a hamstring injury he picked up in the 27th minute against Manchester City at the start of the month.
Poland manager Czesław Michniewicz decided against picking Cash with Bartosz Bereszynski (Sampdoria), Przemyslaw Frankowski (Lens) and Tomasz Kedziora (Dynamo Kyiv) all preferred options instead.
Villa currently hover just above the relegation zone with only one win and one draw from their opening six Premier League matches.
They did hold Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park last time out, though.
