Hampshire's future in top flight darts will be decided on the final day of the season.
Hopes of pulling away from the relegation trap door were dashed when the county lost their final home game to Yorkshire.
With Middlesex all but down, it leaves up to four counties hoping things will go their way at the end of the month - but either Hampshire or Cornwall will be favourite to step down.
Hampshire know they face a tough trip to fourth-placed Cheshire but second to bottom Cornwall also have to travel to Kent who are third in the British Inter County League.
Glamorgan are likely to pick up enough games at Middlesex to ensure another year of top competition and Cambridgeshire should have enough experience to hold their own at Essex.
Spokesman Frank Branscombe said: "It's fairly simple in that we have to equal or better whatever Cornwall do.
"The task is straightforward and perfectly within our grasp as with the existing player commitment and enthusiasm plus knowing the talent we have on hand I am confident that we will rise to the occasion and emerge with honours and reputation intact.
"Kent really hold the key to our future. They are capable of giving Cornwall a hiding but Cheshire are a very good side and they are capable of giving us a hiding."
