ANDREW Surman is ready to stay out of position at left-back to help Saints beat the drop.
The England Under-21 midfielder was outstanding after replacing Gregory Vignal during the 2-0 win against Bristol City.
When Vignal limped off with a hamstring injury in the 42nd minute, Surman took over in a position he had not played since his Tyro League days with Hedge End Rangers.
Surman said: "It was a weird experience because I've never played at left-back before for the club and only used to fill in there occasionally when I was 12!
"But I enjoyed it and would love to continue there if needed. I'm happy to play anywhere if it means being in the team."
