Nigel Pearson insists there will be no complacency in his Saints squad when they go into this weekend's game with Burnley.
After a terrific win over Bristol City and a good draw at Charlton, Saints have given themselves every chance of avoiding relegation this season.
A quick glance over the remaining fixtures for the sides around Saints shows that there is a reasonable chance that a victory on Saturday could see Pearson's side make decent ground and start to pull away from the bottom three.
Though the division remains unpredictable, Saints are picking up form at the right time to avoid further trouble but Pearson is adamant that his side won't believe they simply have to turn up to bowl Burnley over - a defeat would leave them right back in the mire.
When asked if there was a danger of complacency setting in he said: "It won't be the case.
"I think we're all aware of the situation we're in - it is tight.
"It's been tight for a few weeks now and teams around us continue to pick points up.
"Complacency won't come into it.
"I'll be very mindful of that."
