NIGEL PEARSON will tell his players to "play with no fear and enjoy the challenge" when they face Burnley at St Mary's on Saturday.

Though Pearson will not allow the slightest hint of complacency to creep into the Saints squad, the feeling from the outside is that victory this weekend against a side with little to play for would push Saints to the very brink of Championship safety.

But because of that, there is not only the chance of a little complacency but also nerves.

Pearson is just making sure his side keep calm and show the steady heads that have picked them up four impressive points in their last two games.

He said: "It is a big game but all the games we've been playing recently have been massive.

"The Bristol City game was crucial, last Saturday was a very big game for us and this one again has a major importance for us.

"Throughout it all, what we have to do is perform to a high standard.

"When you play a big game, keeping you nerve is very important and the message for this game is the same as of late.

"We have to go out there and give a fully committed performance and play with no fear and enjoy the challenge.

"It is difficult, because these games have a huge bearing on the club, but if we play how we can we have a good chance of getting the result we're all looking for. But, make no mistake, it will be tough.

"They're one of the few sides that in many ways have less pressure and that in itself can allow them to play with freedom."

Pearson has no fresh injury worries ahead of the game and is hopeful Gregory Vignal will be available again after his hamstring problem.
