271-6: Michael Lumb (52*) continues his fluent form and nicks Luke Wright's delivery down the leg side away for four to bring up his half century, as Hampshire creep ever closer to Sussex's first innings total of 332.

37-1: Michael Brown and night watchman James Tomlinson both survived lbw appeals and edges that evaded the slips in the day's early overs, as Robin Martin-Jenkins and Chris Liddle produced some teasing deliveries. Carl Hopkinson had a glorious opportunity to run out Brown on a ball to mid-wicket, but his throw narrowly missed the stumps.
