Stern John and Bradley Wright-Phillips look set to have another chance to lead the Saints line against Burnley tomorrow.
After some experimenting, and Wright-Phillips' exile due to well publicised disciplinary problems, Saints boss Nigel Pearson has opted for the duo as his striking pairing in the last two games.
That has left Marek Saganowksi and Vincent Pericard having to try and come off the bench to impress late in games.
John and Wright-Phillips have a mixture of assets with the former holding the ball up and playing down the middle and the latter running the channels and trying to use his pace to unsettle teams.
Pearson doesn't want to change things unnecessarily at this stage of the season and that will play into the hands of John and Wright-Phillips if they continue to perform.
He said: "I've given them the nod over other players and it's up to them to stay in there really. At this stage of the season, we've got most of our players available.
"I don't want to be chopping and changing too much but it's up to the players who are in the side to stay there and it's as simple as that.
"They have a blend of qualities and that's something that's important for us."
