Saints captain Youssef Safri has insisted his team are NOT going down.
Safri wore the skipper's armband during Saturday's nightmare 1-0 home loss to Burnley.
That dismal result guarantees Saints an exceptionally nervy last two games of the season as they battle to avoid the drop into the third tier of English football for the first time since 1960.
But Moroccan international Safri believes they will avoid the drop.
He said: "All the time, captain or not, everything I do is to respect all the players and be a friend of everyone.
"I have respect for the club as well.
"It's an honour for me to be the first Moroccan to be captain of this club.
"I'm not going to go down and nor are Saints."
