TWO men who were charged with taking Saints on to the next level in the Premiership - are looking to score goals that could condemn them to League One.
Kevin Phillips and James Beattie, the Championship's joint top scorers this season, are currently riding high with West Brom and Sheffield United.
The same cannot be said of Saints, who come face-to-face with Phillips and Beattie in their final two games of the season needing points to survive relegation from the Championship.
It's a far cry from the summer of 2003 when Gordon Strachan paid out £3.25m to make Phillips Saints' second most expensive ever signing behind Rory Delap.
Strachan's plan was to pair Phillips with Beattie, who the previous season had been the top scoring Englishman in the Premiership with 23 league goals and another two in Saints' run to the FA Cup final.
